Retaining walls

We build reinforced-concrete retaining walls to manage level changes, hold back soil and support loads with full structural guarantee. SPL Group builds retaining walls in Alicante and across the Costa Blanca with our own qualified team.

What it involves

A retaining wall is a reinforced-concrete structure designed to resist soil pressure and hold back earth wherever there is a change in level: sloping plots, basements, underground garages, terraces, embankments or driveways. At SPL Group we handle the entire process: excavation, steel reinforcement tied to the project's rebar design, single- or double-face formwork, pouring and vibrating the concrete, plus back-of-wall drainage and waterproofing to prevent hydrostatic pressure and leaks. The result is a plumb, stable and durable wall, sized for the real loads of each plot.

This work sits in the foundation and structural phase of the build, right after earthworks and before raising the building or developing the plot. Within this same specialty we build lift-shaft walls (the pit and the shaft enclosure), high-precision reinforced-concrete walls onto which the lift's guide rails and machinery are later mounted. We coordinate levels, service openings and joints with the rest of the structure so the wall fits the overall build without surprises.

Benefits

  • Our own steelwork and formwork team, the structural work is never subcontracted

  • Walls sized for real loads, ground conditions and the project's rebar design

  • Back-of-wall drainage and waterproofing included to prevent damp

  • A single point of contact and deadlines met at every phase of the build

Scope & types

  • Reinforced-concrete retaining walls for level changes and embankments

  • Basement and underground garage walls with back-of-wall waterproofing

  • Lift-shaft walls: pit and shaft enclosure in reinforced concrete

  • Perimeter boundary and plot retaining walls

  • Wall drainage, drainage membrane and waterproofing

  • Single- or double-face formwork, depending on access and required finish

Frequently asked questions

We build everything from low terracing walls to several-metre walls for basements and large level changes. Height and thickness are defined by soil pressure, loads and the project's rebar design; the taller the wall, the larger the footing and reinforcement required. We assess each plot before quoting.
